Tea Cup Tuesday(s)

You have to love it when a group of people - offered a new idea - take it, run with it, re-name it and make it their own. That’s what has happened with Tea Cup Tuesday and we’d love more of you to know about it and tell anyone who would like to come…

Tea Cup Tuesday began when wonderful local Carolyn P (who also started the Horsley Lunch Club) set up a weekly meet at Quaich for anyone on their own and looking for a bit of light-hearted convivial company. Robin agreed a ‘deal - £5 for tea and cake - and ‘Tea at Two-Thirty on Tuesday’ was born (or so we thought…)

There’s now a regular meet up - sometimes half a dozen, sometimes a dozen or more - involving much chat and tea and cake… and it has become known as Tea Cup Tuesday.

The Quaich team will tell you that the Tea Cup Tuesday lot cause utter havoc - trying to pay for each others’ cake or tea only to find that someone else already has. As it’s past two o’c;lock when they meet, the Quaich kitchen is closed but inevitably someone arrives without having had a chance for lunch and there’s a bigger hole than cake will fill so a little Quaich flexibility is requested (and generally supplied).

We are so delighted that the group has taken off and we’ve also told that others are welcome. If you are looking for a bit of company on a Tuesday afternoon and can get to the coffee shop, come and join us at 2:30pm for tea and cake … you will find the Tea Cup Tuesday gathering are a lovely welcoming bunch.
