Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

Gosh that went quickly, didn’t it?

When I say ‘it’ I mean 2023, or December, or the school term, or last week…take your pick. Anything that is measured in blocks of time seems to gather pace as we grow older. The gap between birthdays, which felt like eons when we were children, now pass in a flash… and before you know it, are gone.

So it’s really important to us, from time to time at least, to stop and count our blessings… and for the owners of a village coffee shop almost wholly reliant on regular, returning customers, of course that includes you!

When we moved into the village there was nowhere you could stop for a coffee, and we felt that a centrally located coffee shop would add a great deal to the heart of the village. We opened Quaich, and it was pretty much the only place you could buy coffee locally, though Lawrence at the then named Pink-footed Goose would have said much the same up at Bishopsmead. Much has changed and will continue to do so, but the support and regular custom we have enjoyed has been a constant. Thank you - we appreciate it!

Our opening hours over Christmas are, as ever, a bit shorter (closed for Christmas Day & Boxing day, open 9am to 2pm in between Christmas & New Year, closed for New Year’s Day), and in amongst the celebrations there is generally a bit more time for us to stop and evaluate things. A good friend and exec coach taught us to think about what we would ‘Stop, Start or Continue’ as an effective way to structure those reviews and we’d love to include you in that as we prepare for 2024. What do you like about Quaich (what should we continue doing?). What else would you like to see us do (What should we start doing?) and what should we stop? We’ve left comments open on this post and would love to hear from you in the comments or, if you prefer to message us privately you can do so at horsleyquaich@gmail.com.

So thanks for your support and thanks for your custom & we very much hope to see you soon.
